Anna B. Gillaspie Hicks, age 80, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010 at Twin Rivers Health and Rehab Center, Arkadelphia, AR. She was born in Clark County, AR, June 24, 1930 to Neil and Joanna Page Gillaspie. Anna was baptized into the family of God at Second Baptist Church in Arkadelphia. She remained active in church throughout her life, serving as a Sunday School teacher, singing in choirs, leading in Women's Missionary Union, age-level organizations. She also served on various committees in the church in Arkadelphia, Augusta, Pine Bluff, and Magnolia. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arkadelphia at the time of her death.

She was a graduate of Arkadelphia High School, and attended Henderson State University where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. Anna was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, where she served as an operator, business office representative, and supervisor. At her retirement after 35 years, she was in the marketing department. She was active in many civic and community organizations, serving in the Arkadelphia Chamber of Commerce in the 1960's.
She served for many years in the Business and Professional Women's Federation in Newport, Arkadelphia, Magnolia and Pine Bluff, AR. She served as State President of BPW from 1982-1983.

She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Billy Ferrell Hicks, and her parents. She is survived by a sister, Margaret E. Gillaspie, of Arkadelphia, and scores of extended family.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, November 4th, preceding the service.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, with Dr. Lee McGlone and Jonathan Malone. Pallbearers will be David Shuler, Elvis Nduku, Michael Dillion, Terry Traywick, Kyle McAfee, Dwight Kirkpatrick, John Davis, and Matt Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Traywick, Jay Freibolt, Clinton Sanders, Ivan Marks, George Mertins, Don Sloan, Corliss Stricklin, Ray Franklin, David Golden, Lee Petrarca, Carl Scott, and Dorrie Staal.
Memorials may be made to Arkadelphia First Baptist Church/Special Projects.
