Ann Pierce Clinton, 103, of Little Rock, Arkansas, entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. She was born August 28, 1919, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, to Burton and AphaLou Pierce. While the family was living in Memphis, Tennessee, Ann met John Sherrill Clinton, and they were married on October 18, 1939. They were blessed to spend 76 years together, and they were an example of strength and faithfulness to their family.
After moving to Little Rock, Arkansas, the couple joined Immanuel Baptist Church in 1946, where they attended and served for many years and made lifelong friends. Ann was a faithful member of the Phebean class, and in her senior adult years, she joined the shawl ministry where she taught younger women how to knit and create many beautiful prayer shawls for the church’s shut-ins.
Ann was an industrious creator at heart. She lovingly cooked big, delicious meals for her family, and as a Southern hostess, there was always attention to detail in the presentation. She spent countless hours with her hands in the dirt building beautiful flower gardens around their home. She was a gifted seamstress. If she felt she couldn’t afford an outfit she loved, she would sketch it out and make it herself. No project was too big for her to attempt. She was also a shrewd bargain-hunter, and she loved to brag about her deals on clothes, antique furniture, and groceries. Her most lasting legacy will be the Christian faith that she modeled and passed down to her family. The numerous prayers that she prayed over each person she loved will be felt for years to come.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Clinton (Judy) of Springdale and Lee Clinton; her grandchildren: Anna Miller (Jason) of Franklin, Tenn., John Clinton (Samantha) of Bentonville, Larry Davison (Andrea) of Cabot, William Clinton of Little Rock, and Sarah Stanton of Springdale; and nine great-grandchildren.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Clinton; her daughter, Lou Ann Davison of Cabot; her grandson, Phil Davison of Fayetteville; and four brothers and sisters.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the building fund at Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., Little Rock, AR 72205. A private burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park will be held.
