Amelia Edwards

Amelia Laverne Williams Edwards was born September 2, 1932 to Hassell and Eula Williams in Mount Vernon, Arkansas. Laverne entered her heavenly home on October 21, 2020. She was met there by her parents and son, Don Edwards.

Laverne was a member of the Class of 1949 at North Little Rock High School. She married the love of her life, Russell, July 11, 1951. They shared 69 years together in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

In these 69 years they were blessed with wonderful friends and wonderful times. They were able to travel a great deal in their RV, and became members of several camping groups.

Laverne retired as a secretary for Harvest Foods in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was a member of First Assembly of North Little Rock, and so enjoyed being a member of the Challenger Sunday School Class.

Her survivors include husband, Russell, of North Little Rock, and daughter, Sharon Mitchell (Larry) of Bryant, Arkansas. Also surviving her are grandchildren, Lisa Reed (Wallace) of North Little Rock, Blake Mitchell (Haley) of Alexander, Arkansas, and Lauren Dougherty (Chris) of Fayetteville, Arkansas. She had four extra special great-grandchildren, Barron, Ella Kate, Davis, and Landon.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 25 from 2:00 – 4:00 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home in North Little Rock. Service will be held Monday, October 27 at 10:00 at the funeral home.
