Celebrating the Life of a "LADY'' Alyce G. Smothers

Alyce Annette Golding Smothers, 85 of Benton, Arkansas left this earth on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 to join the love of her life, her husband, Charles Smothers and their precious son, Wesley Smothers.  It was a joyful day!

Born in Monticello, AR on July 25, 1938 to James Henry and Pauline Thomerson Golding.  Alyce married Charles Wesley Smothers in November of 1956.  They made their home in Benton where together she and Charles raised their two children, Julie and Wesley.  They were lifelong members of First Baptist Church, Benton.

Always a LADY, Alyce began a long and rewarding career in both real estate and as an insurance broker.  Throughout her professional career she was actively involved in her community by serving and chairing numerous organizations: Boys Club, Benton Area Chamber of Commerce, and so many more.  Alyce retired and passed her State Farm Agency to a new agent in 2001.

While she had a successful Insurance Agency, she never stopped enjoying her children and grandchildren.  She always had time for them in EVERY WAY!  After retirement Alyce and Charles moved to Phoenix, AZ to be near their son and his young family.

FRIENDS, she had many and together with friends and her husband, she traveled the world and always looked forward to the next adventure.

Alyce was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Wesley Smothers; husband of 63 years, Charles Smothers; and three brothers, Samuel Golding, William Golding and Steve Golding.

Survivors include her daughter, Julie Smothers Hawkins; daughter-in-law Debra Smothers; grandchildren: Kacey Hopson (Quincy), Spencer Hawkins (Taylor), Sophie Smothers and Claire Smothers; Great-Grandchildren: Kaya Castro, Annika and Quintin Hopson, Lilah, Hadlee and Ellie Hawkins; sister, Gloria Phillips; and many family members and friends who love Alyce and will miss her always.
