Alvin Lehman Purdy

Alvin Lehman Purdy, 86, of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away November 30, 2024. He was born on July 17, 1938, in Malvern, Arkansas to the late Lehman and Elsie Purdy. 

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Purdy; son, Michael Purdy; brothers, John Robert Purdy and Thomas Gayle Purdy. Alvin is survived by his children, MeChelle Heath of Venice, Florida and Chris Purdy of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Keith Purdy (Amanda), Melissa Maxson (Matthew), Kristin Heath-Fudge (Craig) and Alex Purdy; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Woods (Don); along with a host of family and friends.

Alvin was known for his keen sense of humor and pleasant demeanor. He was a very active member of Open Door Community Church of Sherwood. Alvin helped many people for which he wanted no recognition. He enjoyed family vacations and cruises with Mary. Since her passing in 2023, Alvin has looked forward to reuniting with the love of his life. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alvin’s name to Open Door Community Church (709 W. Lee Ave., Sherwood, Arkansas 72120).

A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Smith Sherwood Funeral Home (7700 Hwy 107) with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
