Alvin Kohler

Alvin E. "Al" Kohler, 75, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009. He was born October 5, 1933 in Omaha, Nebraska to Ernest and Georgiana Kohler. He served in the U.S. Navy for two years. He received a degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and did graduate work at the University of Colorado. Al worked many years for Midas International Corporation in various positions, traveling extensively as VP of International Operations and then, as VP/General Manager of Midas-Canada. In 1985, he and son, Karl, established Alkar, Inc., dba Midas Auto Service Centers in Arkansas. After retirement, golf became a major part of his life.
He was a Presbyterian elder and deacon in various Presbyterian Churches, and was a member and elder at Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock.
He is survived by Jean, his wife of 55 years; daughter, Karen Coble of Coppell, Texas; son, Karl Kohler and wife, Melissa of Maumelle; daughter, Koreen Hux and husband, Peter of Downers Grove, Illinois; four grandsons, Jason Jarrell, Kirby Kohler, and Sean and Kevin Hux; brother, Ronald Kohler and wife, Barbara of Hot Springs Village; mother-in-law, Frances Mills; and sister-in-law, Colleen Lovejoy and husband, Samuel of Omaha, Nebraska.
A service will be held at Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock on Monday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to Second Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
