Alvin “Marvin” Calvin, 78, of Joplin, Missouri passed away November 9, 2021 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.  He was born on January 10, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas to the late Elmer Hugo and Willamae Geraldine (Herman) Calvin.  He was raised in Ulysses, Kansas and in 1982, he married Jane Carpenter Dantic.

Marvin loved the Lord and his church, The Sheep Shed, in Joplin, Missouri.  His family was the most important part of his life, and he cherished times they spent together.  Marvin enjoyed woodworking and helping his wife with quilting.  He also loved to dance and play games with all of the kids.  But his most favorite activity was playing Santa Claus for family, friends and events throughout the community.

Preceding Marvin in death are his beloved wife, Jane Calvin; parents, Elmer and Willamae Calvin; and twin brothers, Robert and Richard Calvin.

Marvin leaves behind to cherish his memory his brother, Jerry Calvin and wife Vera of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; nieces:  Hallie Calvin of Benton, Arkansas and Toni Hobbs and husband Jerry of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; two great nephews; one great niece; step-children:  Dewayne Dantic of Chetopa, Kansas, Barbara Meier and husband Alan of Dennis, Kansas, Debby Jungles and husband John of Dennis, Kansas, and Darlene Stegemeyer and husband James of New Richmond, Ohio; six grandchildren; and many family members and friends who love Marvin and will miss him always.

A private graveside burial will be held in Ulysses, Kansas with a memorial service to be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
