Alva Bethune

Alva Collins Bethune, 69, of Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011. He was born April 12, 1941 in Little Rock to the late George Washington and Dorothy Bethune. A U.S. Army veteran, Collins served in the Korean War and was a life-time member of VFW Post 9095. He was a brick mason for over 25 years.
Survivors include daughter, Angie Huckaby of Maumelle; sons, Steve Shewbuirt of Bryant, Collins "PeeWee" Bethune of Mayflower and Joe Bethune of Conway; sisters, Janet Hulsey of Victoria, Texas, Dorothy Geneva Rice of Conway, Wanda Nordrum of Lonoke and Patsy Trice of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren, one great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday, February 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock, followed by interment with Military Honors at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
