Alton Robertson
Alton Ray Robertson, 83, died in his home Sunday, September 9, 2018 surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born December 1, 1934 in Cary, Mississippi to Albert and Lessie (French) Robertson.
Alton graduated from Cary High School in Cary, Mississippi in 1951. He lived in Rolling Fork, Mississippi until 1964 when he moved to Malvern, Arkansas. Alton proudly served in the United States Army and Mississippi Reserves. He later moved to Benton, Arkansas in 1979. Alton joined the First Baptist Church of Benton in 1979. He was a faithful member of the Adult Choir until 2015. Alton loved spending his days at the Senior Adult Center and Amberwood Nursing and Rehabilitation in Benton and was a diehard Razorback fan.
Alton was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lessie (French) Robertson; two brothers, Jerry Robertson and W.T. Robertson; sister, Shirley Theall; and grandson, Kevin Nichols.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Jannetje Robertson of Benton; daughter, Vanessa Bradley and husband Gerald of Texarkana, Arkansas; son, Alton Robertson, Jr. of Hot Springs, Arkansas; daughter, Britney Smith and husband Todd of Benton; daughter, Donjere Ankney and husband Jesse of Benton; son, Paul Robertson and wife Lindsey of Benton; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Tim Robertson of Batesville, Mississippi; sister, Janette Garner of Greeneville, Mississippi; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends who love Alton and will miss him always.
Reception visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 PM, Thursday, September 13, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home. Memorial service, officiated by Bro. Clay Cunningham, will follow at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Music Ministry at First Baptist Church of Benton.
