Alta Smith

Alta Bookout Smith, 91, of North Little Rock, died Dec. 24, 2014. She was born in Violet Hill, Ark. to the late Jonathan and Minnie Bell (Pierson) Blevins on May 18, 1923. She was a substitute teacher for the NLR Public School System for over 20 years and a member of Bethany Baptist Church of NLR since 1950.

Alta is survived by two sons, Jack Bookout and Ken Bookout, both of North Little Rock; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Thelma Montgomery of Melbourne, Ark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Troy Bookout; and husband, Andrew Smith.

Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at the Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 N. Main St. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Violet Hill Cemetery near Melbourne on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015.
