Alma Cummings

Alma Vivinell Cummings, 90, of Romance, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord January 14, 2010. She was born May 28, 1919, to Charles and Villa (Green) Haslip.

Alma was a member of the Floyd Methodist Church. Alma loved life. She loved people, animals and flowers. She was a homemaker for most of her life, and that was the job she thought most of. She was so proud of her family. Spending time with them was her favorite pastime.

In addition to her parents and her brother Emmett, Alma was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Elmo, and their baby girl, Connie.

She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Cummings and wife Mary of Pine Bluff, Joe Cummings and wife Cindy of Romance; and one daughter, Linda Winfrey and husband Lyndel of Floyd. Alma also leaves behind five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Marie, Evalina and Iva.

For the last one and a half years, Alma was a resident of the Beebe Retirement Center. She loved it there and made numerous friends. She truly felt like they were family. The family wishes to express their appreciation for all the love and care given to Alma there. The kindness and consideration in hugs and visits made a difficult time much easier. The family also wishes to thank all those who visited Alma. She especially loved the visits from her pastor, Mark Quick.

Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2010, at Floyd Methodist Church, with burial in New Floyd Cemetery. Pastor Mark Quick will officiate.
