Allmon L. Jester, age 94, of Curtis, AR went to his Heavenly home June 28, 2022. He was born May 28, 1928, to Finis and Ermia Jester. He was “Daddy” to his children, “Pappaw” to his grandchildren and “A.L.” to his friends.
A.L. was a U.S. Army veteran and lied about his age to join the Army at 16 to escape the cotton fields.
A.L. was a retired logger, cattle buyer, and loved deer hunting and visiting his friends and family at the river deer camp. He was also an avid gardener.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Doris (Deaton) Jester; three brothers, Wilburn, Clarence and Clinton Jester; five sisters, Retha Wells, Bennie Sue Batchelder, Lucille Purifoy, Lyvone Crosley and Geraldine Francis and a host of other dear friends and relatives.
He is survived by three sons; Steve (Elease) of Gonzales, Louisiana, Alan of Richwoods, Arkansas, and Gary of Prescott, Arkansas; two daughters, Jannette Burke and Anita Dixon; eleven grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; along with a huge number of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. He is also survived by one brother, James of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; and a sister, Freda Vanlandingham (Wallace) of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
A.L. loved all of his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed.
Services are scheduled for Friday, July 1, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel. Visitation will precede the services at 1:00 p.m. at Ruggles-Wilcox. Burial will be in Hart’s Chapel Cemetery.
