On August 16, 2010, Alleene Goodwin, of North Little Rock departed this world to be with Jesus. Alleene was born into a farming family on February 5, 1921 in Cave City, Arkansas to the late Willie H. and Elizabeth Clark Mobley. During the great depression, the family moved to California and was there until her father decided to come back to Arkansas. She married Everett Goodwin in 1942. After working at the Pine Bluff arsenal, Everett and Alleene moved to North Little Rock. Alleene was a woman of faith and attended the North Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church. Alleene enjoyed her work with Pike Plaza Economy Drug which was owned by Dan Sarna. She also worked for Wal Mart into her seventies. Alleene worked in the fabric section and enjoyed serving the customers. Alleene always loved her children and grandchildren and helped them through the difficulties of the world. Her family enjoyed her Sunday dinners of fried chicken and gravy with hot pies.
She is survived by two sons, Dwight Goodwin and wife Joanne and Travis Goodwin and wife Phyllis; five grandchildren, Whit, Matt, Ben, Jason and Jessica; six great-grandchildren, Isabella, Joseph, Violet, Anna, Harley and Elijah. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers and her parents.
The family wishes to thank the employees at Carelink, Chenal Rehabilitation, the Baptist Hospital and others who helped with her care.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday at North Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery, Hwy 230 east of Cave City, Arkansas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
