Alice "Jean" Harding

Alice “Jean” Harding, age 91, of Bartlett, Tennessee, formerly of Glenwood, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022.

She was born on March 9, 1931, in Amity, the daughter of the late Johnie Bean and Roxie Garner Bean.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Grady “Toots” Bean; her husband, James Abshier; her husband, Bill Harding; and her other siblings, Alton Bean, Johnny Bean, and Curt Bean.  

She was the co-owner of a florist and the owner of Jean‘s Fashions, both in Glenwood, where she developed many friendships.  She was a member of the Glenwood Church of Christ and the Bartlett Woods Church of Christ.  She loved to cook and host friends and family.  She showed her love in action with her servant heart in taking food to the sick and shut-ins and anyone in need.   

She is survived by her two sisters, Reba Pennington and Nina Johns; her brother, Buddy Bean; her children, Jim Harding, Stan Harding, Celia Holland, and Cindy Ralston; eighteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.  

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 16, 2022, in the Glenwood Church of Christ with John Hall, Jim Harding and William Ralston officiating.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM, prior to the services at the church.

Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, 209 North 3rd Street, Glenwood, AR 71943.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Glenwood Church of Christ, P.O. Box 405, Glenwood, AR 71943.
