Alice Faye Coleman, age 79, of Hot Springs, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021.
She was born on October 13, 1941, in Mena, to Charlie Jackson Gilbreath and Viola Victoria Carter Gilbreath. On June 17, 1988, she married Douglas “Whitey” Coleman, who has preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Elloyd Ray Gilbreath; two sisters, Alyene E. (Wilford) Hicks and Charlene (Gene) Nesse; and one daughter, Cassandra Akins.
Alice loved sewing especially quilting, crocheting, working out in the yard and gardening. Her biggest joys where her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked at Henderson State Teachers College in the bookkeeping office, at Lake Hamilton Elementary School as a teacher’s aide, and 30 plus years as a Purchasing Department Manager at NSC Industries. She was one of the greatest loving, caring, and supportive Mom any child could have.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Angela Akins of Pearcy and Bill “Page” and Susan Akins of Pratsville, Alabama; two daughters, Vicki Akins and partner, Pat Williams, of Friendship and Deena Butler and spouse, Randy, of Pearcy; honorary son, Charles Hicks and spouse, Susie, of Strong; nine grandchildren, Jasiel Akins and fiancé, Jessica Larson of Tonitown, Alliance Akins of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Fayth Payne and spouse, Thomas, of Fort Hood, Texas; Nick Akins of Fort Stewart, Georgia, Cassie Akins and Amber Akins, both of Prattville, Alabama, Breagan Butler, Masen Ross, and Jerney Butler; all of Pearcy; two great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Payne and Katherine Payne; one brother and sister-in-law, E. C. and Barbara Gilbreath; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 25, 2021, with Bro. Darren Green officiating in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.
Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 Pm, Tuesday, August 24, 2021.
Pallbearers will be Jasiel Akins, Nick Akins, Masen Ross, Randy Butler, Fayth Payne and Alliance Akins.
Honorary pallbearers are Charles Hicks, Greg Jones, CHI Home Health, CHI Wound Clinic and AR Hospice.
