Alejandro Dominguez Espinosa

Alejandro Dominguez Espinoza, Don Alex, 55, of Little Rock passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024.

He was born to Daniel and Maria Ellena Dominguez Espinosa in Santiago Tuxtla, Veracruz on May 3, 1969. He was a man of many careers, but his true passion lied in hospitality and culinary business. When he immigrated to the United States, he built a home in San Francisco, California where he started worked in a range of business including Embassy Suites, Box Lunch Caterers, San Francisco Giants Stadium and many other places. In December of 2004, Alejandro alongside his wife, decided to take a leap of faith and move to Arkansas to start their own business with their two kids. His biggest dream was to start a restaurant and in January 2005 he opened “Taqueria Veracruzana”. The business was a hit that he opened two locations, one in Pine Bluff and one in Little Rock. In September of 2007, his wife found out she was pregnant with their third child. Alejandro while wanting to keep the business going recognized that being a small business owner of two locations while having a pregnant wife and growing kids was going to be a lot to manage at the time. In 2009 the family decided to sell the businesses and transition into catering for five years running the business from home to manage work with raising a family. After five years, he decided to take a step back from the culinary business as he felt like he needed a change in life. Alejandro ended up working in other fields including construction remodeling, Uniforce Plastics, Embassy Suites Little Rock, The Capital Hotel as a Sous-Chef, and Jimmy’s Serious Sandwiches. Alejandro missed the joy of running his own small business again and cooking the food that he held dear to since growing up. In 2019, he decided to take a leap of faith once again and open his first food truck “Tacos El Barrio” and since then he was able to connect with so many people in the greater Little Rock, East End/Landmark, and Pratt community. He used his company to provide for not only his family, but the greater community. He encouraged other business owners he interacted with and spread knowledge and support. In 2021, his son decided to follow in his steps and opened the 2nd food truck “Tacos El Barrio #2” to continue the legacy of his father. He was someone who loved to cook and made every meal with care and passion. He always left a lasting positive impression on all those he encountered with. Words can’t describe how difficult and sad this unexpected loss has been.

He is survived by his loving wife, Norma Matadamas, and three children: Alejandro Angel Dominguez Matadamas, Yvonne Dominguez Matadamas, and Lizbet Dominguez Matadamas. He is also survived by his mother, 5 siblings, many aunts, uncles, cousins, godchildren and fellow friends. Alejandro will always be remembered by his friendly and child-like spirit, his dedication to his family, community and his business. He was someone with a welcoming soul and infectious personality. He loved to joke around with family, friends and anyone he connected with. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Know that we plan to continue his legacy on and eventually re-open his most loved business. Family, friends and the community are invited to celebrate his life and say their last goodbyes to our beloved father and friend. We invite those who knew Alejandro to share any photos or memories they may have with him to share in this Photo Album (https://photos.app.goo.gl/LyueePswN3Z5fXSN8).
