Albert Priddy
Albert Eugene Priddy, Jr, 97, went to be with his wife, Carlie, and His Lord Jesus, on June 21, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Born to Mabel (Clemens) Priddy and Albert E. Priddy, Sr., in Charleston, Mississippi in 1920, Albert was the oldest of five sons. After graduating high school in Arkansas City, Arkansas, he worked in heavy construction until the onset of WWII, when he joined the U.S. Navy and served as Chief Petty Officer in the Pacific Theater - Funafuti, Kwajalein, Guadalcanal, and other islands. Following the end of the war, he married Carr Lemoine Moore in Dumas, Arkansas, and they were a team for 68 years, traveling the globe with the Department of Defense. They lived in Arkansas, Tennessee, Ohio, North Carolina, Germany, Missouri, Korea, and finally retired in Arkansas, where he had many more years of productivity. He and Carlie had their final home in Cabot, Arkansas, where they were active members of First Baptist Church. After Carlie's death, he moved to Ohio to be near family.
Mr. Priddy was preceded in death by his dearly-loved wife, and his brothers John and Walter. He is survived by son Alan (Janet) Priddy of Mackenbach, Germany; daughter Melissa (Paul) Howard of Chardon, Ohio; grandchildren Rachel (Patrick) Collins of Chardon, Joshua (Marci) Howard of Cordova, Tennessee, ENS Nathan Priddy (USN) and 2Lt Anna Priddy (USAF). He was proud of his beautiful great-grandchildren: Sean, Emma, and Ava Collins, and Bailey, Joshua Paul, Andrew, and Johanna Howard. They loved their Ladley! He is also survived by two brothers, Raymond and Charles.
Words cannot do justice to this well-lived life. He touched people all over the world, providing practical help and provisions to missionaries, neighbors, family, and strangers. He worked in the church wherever he lived, and was a founding member of Bethel Baptist Church in Frankfurt, Germany, and Seoul International Baptist Church in Seoul, Korea.
"I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
Ladley, we miss you already. We love you more than we can write. We will see you again! Thank you for being The Best of the Greatest Generation.
