Adam "Sonny" Stanley Gubanski, Jr.

Adam "Sonny" Stanley Gubanski, Jr., 92, of North Little Rock passed away July 18, 2024. Sonny was born May 31, 1932, the oldest of ten children of the late Bertha and Adam Gubanski, Sr. He served in the United States Army and was a retired mechanic.

Sonny was drafted into the Army. He served two years active duty and eight years reserve. When he got out of the Army, he drove a school bus for Illing Bus Co.  He met his wife Leveda while driving the bus. She rode his bus to school. They started dating after she turned eighteen and eventually they married and had three children. They were married for fifty-eight years.

Sonny had a passion for antique vehicles or anything old. He could fix anything! He loved talking about anything mechanical. He shared his knowledge with many. He always lived in the past and he loved the 50s.  He and his wife spent a lot of time going to car shows and swap meets always driving one of his 57 Chevy’s. He cherished his old “Boom Truck” and his yellow wrecker. Sonny will be missed by many who knew and loved him. You will always be in our hearts Daddy.

Sonny was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Leveda Smith Gubanski; three siblings: Bobby Gubanski, Margaret Howell, Carolyn Bolton; and a grandson, Shawn Uptain. Survivors include their children, Sharon Davis, Roger Gubanski and Rhonda Fulmer; siblings: Betty Roberts, Mary Burcham, James Gubanski, Victor Gubanski, Paula Fowler and Barbara Howell; grandchildren, Jessie Davis, Robin Gubanski and Dustin Harris (Terra); a host of great-grandchildren and friends. 

Visitation is 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, July 25 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral is 9:30 AM, Friday, July 26 at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock. Guestbook at www.SmithFamilyCares.com
