Our son Aaron Reed Hinton, 42, died on November 21. He was the oldest of 4. During his life he achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot as well as an instructor. He died of cirrhosis of the liver due to alcoholism. He once wrote a poem that began with the line "A life gone wrong, dreams shattered, love lost. Bitterness sets in, but at what cost." He spent most of his life looking backwards at previous mistakes, hating himself and blaming others. He could not see the love around him. He thought alcohol was his best friend and in the end, it took everything from him including his life. He stated "it's easy to hate, to need to scream, filled with rage but in the end, I suppose I'm building my own cage. Not a cage of iron and steel like the place I've been, but a cage of anger and loneliness, built from within." God never gave up on him and he is finally at home. May this be a lesson to other travelers that in the end, the only thing that is true is the love of God. We love you son!
