William Permenter
William (Bill) Owen Permenter, 67, of Little Rock, died September 29, 2016. He was born April 19, 1949 to the late Bill (William A.) and Barbara Sledge Permenter of Greenbrier, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Helen Permenter of Little Rock; son, David Permenter (Juanita) of Warren, Arkansas; two brothers, Arlie Permenter of Conway and Richard Permenter of Greenbrier; his grandchildren, Johnathon Permenter, Phoebe Permenter, James Permenter, Andrew Tarkington, Macy Tarkington, Morgan Tarkington, Taylor Knox, Madison Knox and Jordan Wiley; uncles, Fred Permenter and Owen Permenter; aunts, Patsy Burgess and Sue Spradlin; nephews, Grant and Jared Permenter; and four step-children, Dina Tarkington (Marcus), Leslie Wiley (Dale) of Benton, Paulette Knox (Robert) of Little Rock and Rusty Shock of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Bill graduated from Conway High School in 1968, where he enjoyed and excelled in baseball and football. He joined the Air Force in 1973. His tour of duties allowed him to experience the beauties of Alaska, Germany and France. He had the opportunity to guard two U.S. Presidents, Nixon and Ford.
Bill's life was filled with numerous memorable events, deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, racing VWs on the Autobahn at 140 mph, an Alaskan cruise. He excelled in marksmanship and billiards. His passions were photography, music from the glory years of 1960-1980, and the Dallas Cowboys. Bill's words: "God took good care of me and America is wonderful."
Visitation is Wednesday, October 5 from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Services are Thursday, October 6 at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment with Military Honors at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Freedom Funds, benefitting Arkansas veterans, www.arkansasfreedomfund.org.
