Willard Lucille Baber Hewitt, age 92, of Arkadelphia passed away on August 1 in Maumelle, AR. She was born in Okolona, AR on November 5, 1922 the daughter of the late Guy and Bessie Baber.
A graduate of Okolona High School she worked for the Rural Electric Cooperative Service for several years and after staying home to raise her two boys she returned to work as a bookkeeper for the Daily Siftings Herald for 19 years.
Willard was preceded in death by one son Randall Hewitt and her husband of 64 years Edwin Hewitt. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Eula Schnebly, Norene Bain, Mabel Kyser, Irma Willis, and Vera Wingfield, and two brothers, Tommie Baber and Roy Baber.
As a faithful charter member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church Willard sang soprano in the choir for nearly 50 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her husband, sons and grandsons.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Charlotte Hewitt of Little Rock and her grandsons, Scott Hewitt of Conway and Todd Hewitt of Little Rock.
Services will be held at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5 with Reverend Travis Langley officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 6:00-7:30 on Tuesday, August 4 at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 2301 Crawford St., Arkadelphia, AR 71923 or to the Alzheimer's Association of Arkansas, 204 Executive Court, Suite 301, Little Rock, AR 72205.
