Timothy Simpson

Timothy David Simpson, age 32 of Cabot, AR was taken from this earthly world on February 11, 2021 in Little Rock from an apparent overdose.  David was born September 20, 1988 in North Little Rock to Timothy Simpson and Lisa Denton.  He attended Abundant Life School and graduated in May 2006.  After graduating HS, David attended UCA for 3 years and then later went to Pulaski Technical College to get his Welding Certificate.

David grew up playing various sports, but his love was always baseball.  He played at Sylvan Hills and we spent the majority of our summers traveling around the state to countless tournaments with All Star Teams.  His favorite position was catcher.  He was excellent at bat, which was a good thing because he was not a fast base runner.  Although he loved to steal bases and did so many times much to the dismay of his coaches.  His Senior baseball team ALS Owls won the State Championship in Baum Stadium in 2006.  After HS while attending college David taught pitching and batting lessons to young players.  The great game of baseball brought him much joy through the years.

David loved the outdoors, hiking, swimming, climbing trees, climbing mountains and exploring nature.  He spent countless weekends at the lake with “the lake family” and it held a special place in his heart.  He could always appreciate a beautiful sunrise, sunset, the moon and the stars.  He spent many nights on the pond at his Grandparents house star gazing and contemplating life.  The pond was David’s special place to take Brittany for picnics and talks.  David had a great love for travel and adventure.  We took many vacations through the years with extended family. He loved his Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.  As an adult he traveled from the east coast to the west coast by bus, car and by foot. He had an amazing tenderness for all animals and considered himself to an animal whisperer.  David possessed that same warmth for people.  He never met a stranger and would give you his only dollar or the shirt off his back to anyone in need.

David was an avid reader.  He was well read on many topics.  He loved the great classics and could get lost in the stories of others.  David shared this love for books with his Grandma and they spent many hours discussing their thoughts on book topics.  He also passed this passion onto to Brittany and then the 3 of them had their own little book club.  He always enjoyed having a nice book corner to sit, read, and have a cup of hot tea.  David was a talented writer and has written many shorts stories and poems throughout the years.  People he loved could always count on a beautifully written poem as a gift from his heart to them.  He also loved music and was a talented guitar player.  In recent months he was working on writing some of his own lyrics and was learning to sing.

David was an old soul, he often stated he was born in the wrong era. He would much rather sit and visit with people than play video games, watch TV, or poke on his phone. He liked old typewriters, old albums, record players and enjoyed a good old western movie.

David dreamed of becoming a husband, father, and provider.  He wanted to become an underwater welder.  He dreamed of hiking the Appalachian Trail and sailing around the world.

David is survived by his loving mother Lisa Denton (Larry), father Timothy Simpson, brother Daniel Simpson, Grandfather Leroy Brockinton, best friend & love of his life Brittany Bradley, and loving Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.  Preceded in death Grandmother Edna Brockinton, Cousin Joshua Brockinton, Grandmother & Grandfather Barbara and Jim McArthur, Grandfather Dewon Simpson.

David fought a long hard battle with the devastating disease of Addiction. He so desired to live a sober life, but his guilt, shame, and pain haunted him, and the drugs always offered him a means of escape.  David has been sober since September 2020, but the disease and his own demons would not let him live.

A celebration of David’s Life will take place at 3:00pm, Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Eberle officiating. David’s ashes will be spread by Grandma’s Pond and in the Appalachian Mountains.  A monument for remembrance of David’s Life will be at Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service beginning at 2:00pm.

Memorials may be made to Recovery Centers of Arkansas/The Oasis Renewal Center

Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 1 Corinthians 13:1
