Sandra Gail Wheat, age 77, of Little Rock, passed away from natural causes, at home with family on August 27, 2021. She was born on September 15, 1943 in Little Rock. She played saxophone and piano, and was named Miss North Little Rock in 1962. Sandra graduated with degrees in Chemistry in 1966 and a Master's degree in Microbiology in 1969, both from the University of Arkansas. She worked as a chemist at the Arkansas Department of Health for most of the next 40 years. She led an adventurous life, full of travel, dancing, music, continuing education and three husbands.
Her final phase of life was spent loving her grandchildren. Some of it was magic, some of it tragic, but she lived life by her own rules.
Sandra is survived by her son and daughter in law, Alex and Angi Orsini, her brother, Gary Wheat, and 3 grandsons-David, Jacob and Noah. Waiting for her in Heaven are her parents, Elmer and Inez Wheat, and her grandson, Michael Orsini.
The funeral will be held at Gardner Memorial Methodist Church, in North Little Rock, at 10 am, Thursday September 2nd. Immediately following that, she will be buried at Sardis Cemetery in Lafayette County, outside of Stamps.
Gifts in memory of Sandra can be donated to Gardner Memorial Methodist Church in North Little Rock or to the Michael Orsini Endowment at Arkansas Children's Hospital.
