Patsy Ruth Lampkin Coker, a Baptist, passed away on February 2, 2021. She was 90 years old. She was born on May 30, 1930, in Chidester, AR and married her first love, Troy Birdyne Coker, who passed in 2000. Patsy was an amazing woman. She wore angel wings every day of her life and now she gets to use them. She graduated from St Vincent's Infirmary School of Nursing, in 1951. The knowledge and skills she gained there helped her nurture, care for, and love all her children and grandchildren.
Patsy was a child of the Silent Generation, a depression baby, who had the remarkable ability to enjoy every minute of her 90 years. She went through her formative, years during an era of conformity, but also during the postwar happiness: Peace! Jobs! Suburbs! Television! Rock ‘n Roll! Cars! Computers! Internet! iPhones! As a child of WWI parents and a baby during The Great Depression; a young adult during the War to End All Wars, she had strong models of teamwork to be able to overcome and to progress. Her interests were in all things old and new. Mrs. Coker’s prosperity was the health and joy of her children and their families.
She is survived by her seven children, Karen Liggett of Ash Flat, Iris Beal, Beverly McEuen and Valerie Hammond of Bentonville, Troy Coker and R. G. Coker of Beebe, Adrian Coker of Sidon, two stepsons Dean Coker of Glendale, Arizona and Leonard (Buddy) Coker of Mayflower, a sister, Sally Phillips of Pencil Bluff; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren and nineteen great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents Gilbert and Sallie Lampkin, her sisters Helen Hackney and Dorothy Williams, and her brothers Charles and Ellis Lampkin.
Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021, at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Sixteenth Section Cemetery. Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home. www.smithfamilycares.com
