Mary Schoonover

Heaven gained another Angel and our family lost the glue that has held us together for more than 73 years.

Mary Frances Schoonover, age 93, passed away Saturday, October, 24, 2020.  She wore many hats during her lifetime but was proudest of wife and mother.

Mom was an amazing woman.  She stood toe to toe with cancer twice and won.  She was 79 pounds of courage with a warrior’s spirit and a servant’s heart.

She retired from White County Memorial Hospital after 28 years of service working in Labor and Delivery.  There were many times women would come up to her in Walmart with their teenager that Mom had helped deliver.  When I'd ask her "Who was that?”  Mom would reply, "I don't know.  I wasn't looking at her face the last time I saw her."

Mom has been reunited with the love of her life, her husband, Albert Schoonover and her oldest son, Lee Schoonover.  She is survived by her daughter, Jane Droke; and son Michael Schoonover (Anita).  She loved 3 grandkids, Erika Van Horn (John Mark), Justin Schoonover (Brittany) and Amanda Sherman (Justin Lee - currently serving in Afghanistan). She adored her great grandkids Kaden & Kaleb Schoonover, Addison Sherman and Spencer Van Horn.  She is also survived by a sister, Cloice Dimario and brother Russell Smith.

She was an awesome Mom, loving Grama and doting Little Grandma.  I miss her already.
