Marvin Moore, Sr

Marvin Julian Moore Sr. went home to the Lord Saturday July 31, 2021, in Searcy, Ar.  He was born June 2, 1937, to Marvin and Ophelia Moore in El Paso, Ar.

He was a member of Union Valley Baptist Church, a 1955 graduate of Beebe High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Arkansas State in 1964.

He was a fixture in the Agri business in Central Arkansas for over 55 years having worked for Production Credit as a loan officer and selling farm implements. His favorite color was John Deere Green for many years.  Most recently, he turned to New Holland Blue, having worked for Steve Merit at Venture Equipment in Searcy up to his recent illness.

He was known for his big smile and kind words that he shared as he made his rounds to see his customers (friends). He was proud of his family and never shied away from telling all that would listen about them. He always loved fishing, hunting and going to deer camp to mostly cook and sit by the fire with his buddies.

He was an expected site around the Fair Ground in Arkansas having served as Fair Administrator for the State of Arkansas 1980-1993, Executive Secretary of the AFMA (Arkansas Fair Managers Association) 1994-1996 and was inducted into the AFMA Hall of Fame in 2017. He became a member of the White County Fair Association Board of Directors from 1996 until his death and served as President in 2006-2007.

He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Moore, his parents Marvin and Ophelia Moore, his brother Billy Jeryl Moore, son-in-law Todd Carpenter, his grandson Kevin Goodwin and brothers-in-law Larry Pruitt and Gene Faulkner.

He is survived by his children, daughter Cynthia Carpenter, sons Benny (Jackie) Goodwin, and Marvin Julian (Cindy) Moore Jr.; brother Don (Judy) Moore, sisters June Faulkner, Linda (Jim) Gordon, Joyce (Bob) Corbin and sister-in-law Linda Moore; grandchildren Will (Holly) Moore, John (Caitlyn) Moore, Andrew (Kate) Moore, Lindley (Nathan) Kinard, Jason Goodwin, Trevor (Nikki) Goodwin, 7 precious great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends!
