Marjorie Kelly

Marjorie Louise Kelly, 92, of North Little Rock, went to be with the Lord February 1, 2020. She was born on March 28, 1927 to Ray and Louise Noel in Colby, Kansas.

Marjorie graduated from high school in Unionville, MO and from Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, MO.  She worked as a secretary in Kansas City, MO, for the Department of Army, Chemagro, and to the Assistant Superintendent of N. Kansas City School District.  When Marj and Bob moved to Arkansas in 1968, Marj worked as a secretary until 1986 at Indian Hills Methodist later to merge and become First United Methodist Church North Little Rock.

Marj was devoted to her church and family, loved to sing in the choir, was civic-minded and active in community work.  She believed in taking care of her health, and walked several miles a day for many years as well as participating in the water aerobics class at the Hayes Center from the time it first opened.  After Bob and Marj retired, they traveled and finished visiting all the states in the U.S.  and also visited Canada and the Cayman Islands.  After Bob’s death, Marj visited Ireland with Marlyss and a group of friends from church.

Marj was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2003, but continued to live actively for many years with help from her family and friends.  She was lovingly cared for by her daughter Robin and her husband, Jimmy.  The last year and a half of her life, she was enrolled in Complete Health with PACE which enabled her to continue living at home with Robin and Jimmy.  We are forever grateful for all the care given by the exceptional staff at PACE.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Robert F. Kelly; two sons, Nick and Patrick Kelly; one grandson, Robby Kelly; and one brother, Roth Noel.

She is survived by two daughters, Marlyss (Greg) Simmons of Aurora, MO, and Robin (Jimmy) Abbott of North Little Rock; daughter-in-law, Lisa Kelly of Dallas, TX;  12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren:  Greg Lopez (wife Mariana and children Gregory, Jessica, Samantha, Jesús, and Luke), Carlos Lopez (wife Renee and children Lauren, Jacie, and Kiera), Ravina Lopez (children Christina, Robert, Nicholas, and Alesio); Louis Kelly (wife Jessica and children Isabelle and Edward Kelly); and Marjorie Martinez (husband Elias and children Andy, Sofia, and Zoe); Bob (Jennifer) Simmons; Frank Simmons; Nicholas Dudley (wife Autumn and children Jackson and Henry); David Dudley; Tiffany (Rod) Campos; Cassie (Jacob) VanPelt; four great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.
