Marilyn Kay Johnson, 71, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away December 1, 2021. She was born August 6, 1950 in Fairfield, California to the late James Madison, Jr. and Dixie Lee (Knowles) Corley.
Marilyn cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was the “Ball Park Mom” and never missed attending a cheer competition, or basketball and softball game. Marilyn was often found picking kids up for games, running the scoreboard or concession stands. She enjoyed living on Lake Hamilton. Marilyn was an avid Elvis fan, so much so that she named her dog Elvis. She and her husband would listen to Elvis gospel music every Sunday and sing along. Family, including her sons-in-law, were the most important part of Marilyn’s life.
Marilyn leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of forty-two years, Joel Johnson of Hot Springs, Arkansas; four daughters: Lara James and husband Lee of Benton, Arkansas, Jeri Kay Hammonds and husband Eric of Benton, Arkansas, Kristi McFarland and husband Jeff of Alexander, Arkansas, and Rhonda Nguyen and husband Linh of Benton, Arkansas; ten grandchildren: Kaylee Wilson, Hunter Nguyen and wife Stephanie, Peyton Wilson and wife Nichole, Samuel McFarland and wife Allie, Nathan McFarland, Garett Nguyen, Tristen Hammonds, Rhett James, Sophia McFarland, and Rylin Nguyen; three great-grandchildren: Brynlee Nguyen, Emerson, Wilson and soon to arrive Cason Nguyen; brother, Ron Corley of Little Rock, Arkansas; sister, Sheryl Nelson of Houston, Texas; special friend, Vicki Noble of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and many family members and friends who love Marilyn and will miss her always.
