Ken Colbert

Ken Colbert, 75, of Sherwood passed away January 16, 2022.  He was born to the late Dr. John H. Colbert and Viola Bryan Colbert on November 25, 1946 in West Plains, Missouri.  Ken graduated from Wynne High School in 1964 and from Ouachita Baptist University in 1969.  He then attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  He was a member and an ordained deacon of First Baptist Church of Sherwood. Ken served in the U.S. Army National Guard for almost 47 years retiring as Master Sergeant. He loved gardening, fishing, bird watching, and his red jeep. Ken was a godly man who loved his country and his family.  He was generous and was constantly trying to “out-give” others.  He was the best Papa and took pride and joy in his four grandchildren.  He never missed a chance to attend their sports events and activities, whether it be baseball, cheerleading, volleyball, softball, cross country, or basketball, even when his mobility difficulties were a challenge. Ken was the true definition of a family Patriarch and nothing made him happier than having his entire family together.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Betty (Shepard) Colbert; two wonderful daughters and sons-in-law:  Ginny (Jason) Young and Leah (Ben) Brewer; precious grandchildren:  Connor, Bailey, Emma and Olivia; sister, Jeanne (Jim) Ramsey; brother-in-law, Steve (Renee’) Shepard and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; his parents, and sisters, Judy Ramsey and Shirley Stephenson.
