Kathleen Helms

Kathleen Ann Helms (85 years) passed on to be with the LORD on June 27, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth B. Helms, Sr. and her brother Robert (Bob) Cunningham of Oklahoma. Kathleen and Kenneth had three children, Kenneth Helms Jr. (wife Angela) of Arkadelphia, Kayleen Ferguson (husband Larry) of Hot Springs, and Kendra Franks (husband Neil) of Columbia MO. Along with 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Kathleen was born April 3, 1934in Arkansas City, KS to Thomas and sylva Cunningham. At age twelve, she was baptized in the Walnut River there. She earned a Bachelors Degree from Henderson State University and her Masters Degree from Oklahoma State University. She taught English at Lakeside Schools in Hot Springs for 30 years, retiring in 2009. She was a member of ADK (teacher sorority) and Baring Cross Missionary Baptist Church in Arkadelphia.

A private family burial will be held at Richland Cemetery in Arkadelphia on Saturday July 6, 2019. Kathleen, also known as Katie, was a teacher, wife, mom, grandma, and survivor that rose above major childhood struggles and personal medical challenges with an internal personal strength. May you now rest with the Lord.
