Jerry Roark

Jerry Chane’l Roark, died August 25, 2021 at the age of 84. After more than 40 years residing at Furlow in Lonoke County. Jerry was a resident of Sherwood Rehab and Nursing, in Sherwood, Arkansas for the past 4 years.

Covid did not allow her loved ones to be by her side as it took her last breath, but we were with her in our hearts. She was dearly loved.

She was born Jerry Chanel Grady, September 7, 1936 to her parents, Carl and Nadine Grady. Jerry was married to her late husband, John C. Roark for 62 years. She was mother to 7 sons, 3 of which preceded her in death. John Richard, Jamey Clyde and Chancey Wade. She was preceded in death also by three grandchildren, Shannon, Blake and Taylor. She is survived by 4 sons and their wives, Rodney (Carolyn), Kelly (Lisa), Tracy (Cheryl), and Jeremy (Christy).

Jerry had 18 grandchildren. She was a great-grandmother to 23 and a great-great-grandmother to 3. She was fondly known as Granny and a friend to many. She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Isham of Phoenix, Arizona and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and loved to share her hope for the future with many. She attended Springhill Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in North Little Rock whenever possible over the telephone.

Jerry loved to visit and nothing made her happier than to say something that made her friends laugh, and she would relate her funny story for anyone that would come into her room. Those stories were her joy and a treat to see your reaction over and over.

She enjoyed so much all her friends and family that came to visit with her or called her on the phone. All the visits, and cards; she treasured each one.

Jerry was very talented in many crafts and arts. To see her hand work in afghans, quilts, and porcelain dolls would leave you wondering how she moved her needles and paint brushes so perfectly in crafts of the past.

A special thanks to the Resident of Sherwood Rehab and Nursing that took special care of Jerry’s needs and was part of her Resident Family. Thanks for making Jerry’s stay at your facility her home.

There will be a memorial service via Zoom in the future.
