Janice Ann Bates, 67, of Mayflower passed from this life on August 13, 2021. She was born August 26, 1953, in Clarksville, Arkansas to Eugene and Irene Fredrick. Janice was of the Christian Faith. She was a creative entrepreneur, who along with her husband owned and operated Bates Field and Stream. She will always be remembered for her generous nature, her jovial sense of humor, and the unconditional love abundantly given to those around her. Preceding her in death are her father, and brother, Johnny Fredrick.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of forty-eight years, Richard Bates; mother, Irene Hale of Mayflower; children, Melonay (Eddy Jr.) York of Mayflower, Shannon Sims (Geremy Newman) of Bryant; grandchildren, Evan and Adam Sims of Benton, Ethan and Esabella York of Mayflower; siblings, Mary Plank of Oklahoma, and Frances (Mickey) Zolliecoffer of Altus. Other survivors include her mother-in-law, Grace Bates of Mayflower; granddogs, Razor and Smash, along with many other extended family and a host of friends.
Due to the continuing Covid-19 pandemic, a celebration of Janice’s life will be announced at a later date.
