Hugh W. Parks, 79, of Beebe went to be with the Lord, Saturday May 25, 2019.
Hugh, affectionately known as Bill, grew up in Owensboro, Kentucky. At the age of 18 he joined the United States Navy, and shortly after married the love of his life, LaVerne. Together, with their two children, they traveled the world as he served his country. Bill was a lifelong learner and always taking classes where he was stationed. His work ethic was incredible.
After 27 years of service, Bill retired. He enjoyed be a caretaker of his community through his work with the Angel Tree Project and the White County Master Gardner’s Society. Bill was a devoted husband, father, and “Papu.”
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lily Parks, brother Robert Parks, Jr.; three sisters; Betty, Margaret and Nancy; infant brother Felix, and one granddaughter, Alicia.
Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, LaVerne Parks, two children Debbie (Bob) Winter and James (Regina) Parks, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, two brothers, one sister, and a host of family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Smith – Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe Wednesday May 29, 2019 at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Wounded Warrior Project. www.woundedwarriorproject.com
