Helen Elizabeth Smith went to her eternal home on February 8, 2020. Helen was born March 4, 1925 to the late Henry Calvin and Lillie Mae Whitworth Dixon in Arkadelphia AR.  An early member of Third Street Baptist Church in Arkadelphia, Helen’s life centered around her faith, family and friends. Beloved by her family and many friends, her life will be remembered as one of love and joy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Andrew Smith, four brothers, William, Edward, Elgie, and Joe Dixon, and grandson Eric Smith.  Helen is survived by two sons, Jerald W.  (Kay) Smith, James D. (Jill) Smith; one daughter, Veda  (Bruce) Smith; two brothers, Royal (Georgia) Dixon, Doyle (Thelma) Dixon; one sister, Mary Holcomb, sisters-in-law, Billie Jean Dixon and Joyce Dixon,  seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank her niece, Phoebe Garner, for her loving care of Helen during her illness and the many friends who visited her faithfully.

A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at Third Street Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2020 with visitation at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will follow at Rest Haven with Rev. Greg Latham officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Third Street Baptist Church; 224 Crawford St. Arkadelphia, AR. 71923.
