William Eugene Mahoney, 81, was born March 28, 1939 to James Dennis Mahoney and Mable (Russell) Mahoney of Cabot, Arkansas. He passed away January 27, 2021. He attended Pilgrim Nazarene in Cabot.
Gene attended school at Cabot Public Schools. He met the love of his life of 64 years, Alice Faye Lee, at Beebe Nazarene Campground when he was 17 years old. In 1964 he started his mechanic career at Cliftons. Gene traveled to California to work as a master mechanic, and there he was one of the first ones to ever work on a Chevrolet Corvair. He began body work with George Patterson in the early 70s. He then moved on to doing body work and running a wrecker for McCullum Ford. That lead to him creating the Mahoney Towing Empire in the late 70s, where he worked for 30+ years and retired in 2000. Gene welcomed everyone and anyone into his home. He only had 5 sons, but treated more than that like family. To know Gene, was to love Gene. He lived a wonderfully complete life and will be truly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Faye; sons Randy of Beebe, Harold (Lucy) of Norman, Oklahoma, Danny (Missy) of Beebe, Kevin (Leslie) of Beebe, Ritchie (Victoria) of Beebe; twelve grandchildren, Tiffany, Sasha, Amber, Emily, Callie, Adam, Cameron, Meghan, Chelsea, Dakota, Grace and Jameson; and thirteen great grandchildren.
Also surviving are brothers Robert Mahoney and Ricky Mahoney; and sisters Joyce Justice and Charlene Mahoney.
He was preceded in death by siblings Paul Mahoney, Sr., Nell Winn, Lucille Mahoney, Dennis Earl Mahoney, Charlie Mahoney, James Taylor Mahoney, Mary Hattie Hughes, and Nancy Romine.
Family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2021 at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home. www.smithfamilycares.com
