Gary Lee Hamner, age 56, of Norman, died Friday, June 12, 2015. He was born on May 31, 1959 in Tokio, Arkansas, the son of Jimmy Lee Hamner and Wilma Faye Cogburn Hamner. He was preceded in death by his father; his son, Gary Wayne Hamner; and his brother-in-law, Norman Burmaster. Gary worked in the logging woods and sawmills all of his life. He worked in various aspects of logging from running a chain saw to skidding the logs. He loved to hunt, fish and camp. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Justin and Ashley Hamner of Norman, Casey and Shandra Hamner of Dierks and Brandon and Samantha Hamner of Bonnerdale; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kara Hamner of Hot Springs and Amanda and Lee Goodwin of Delight; six grandchildren; his mother, Wilma Hamner of Caddo Gap; eight siblings and their spouses, Karen Burmaster of Dardenelle, Jimmy Hamner of Roland, Oklahoma, Jerry Hamner of Glenwood, Greg and Sheila Hamner of Caddo Gap, Kelly Hodges of Caddo Gap, Tammy Crossen of Norman, Troy Hamner of Caddo Gap and David and Mojah Hamner of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; and his uncle, Tommy Hamner of Black Springs. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 18, 2015, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Pastor Brandon Westgate officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Big Fork. Pallbearers will be Justin Hamner, Casey Hamner, Brandon Hamner, Jeremy Hamner, Michael Hamner and John Libby. Honorary pallbearer will be J. J. Hamner. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
