Gary Dewayne Abshure, 58, of Austin, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2021. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on January 11, 1963 to Willie F. Abshure and Kathryn Abshure. Gary graduated from Cabot High School in 1981 and married his school sweetheart on March 12, 1982.
If you knew Gary, he loved his wife, Anita, his children, grandkids and family. They were very important to him. Gary was a wonderful husband, best friend, father and papa, a hard worker and provider who loved God and family.
He loved to work and was always working. He liked to hunt and fish, but would rather be working instead. Gary loved to talk to people; he never met a stranger.
Gary and Anita owned and operated a dairy farm for 19 years. Then Gary finished heat, AC and refrigeration school at Pulaski Tech where he graduated top of his class. Upon graduation, Gary started a heat, air and refrigeration company known as Abshure Service Co. that he operated alongside his wife Anita for 15 years.
Gary retired August, 2015 due to having early onset Alzheimer’s.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Abshure, grandparents Will and Hazel Abshure, Newt and Beatrice Taylor, and brother-in-law Steve Dixon.
Gary is survived by his loving, devoted wife, Anita, of 38 years; his children, Corey Abshure of Cabot, daughter Tiffany Abshure of Cabot; grandchildren, Alexis Abshure, Isaiah Abshure and Taylor Abshure; his mother, Kathryn Abshure of Austin; brothers, Steve Abshure, Brian Abshure, and David Abshure, all of Austin; in-laws Dearl and Shelba Dixon; sisters-in-law Renee Calhoon (Brian), Tammie Dixon; nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
Special thanks to Woodland Hills, Jacksonville and Baptist Hospice doctors and nurses.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s research in Gary’s name.
