Elbert Cogburn

Elbert Cogburn, age 86, of Glenwood, died Tuesday, August 5, 2014. He was born on April 6, 1928 at Newhope, the son of Bill Cogburn and Pearl Killian Cogburn. He was a retired logger who enjoyed hunting, fishing and horse racing. Family was very important to him. He enjoyed being with his family and playing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Della Cogburn of Glenwood; two sons, Jimmy Wayne Cox and Johnny Elbert Cogburn both of Glenwood; four daughters, Sonya Neighbors of Glenwood, Donna Gail Young, Vicky Lynn Jeffries and Kim Parcher, all of Merkel, Texas; twelve grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 8, 2014, in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery at Newhope with Bro. Joe Cogburn and Bro. Boots Donaldson officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
