Donald Clough

Donald Francis Clough, 96, of North Little Rock passed away May 30, 2021.  He was born in Menasha, Wisconsin on January 13, 1925, to the late Rufus Heath Clough and the late Bertha Tuchscherer Clough. Donald served in the U.S. Navy during WW II in England.  After serving during WW II he moved to Arkansas with two friends to raise chickens, this is where he met his wife, Evelyn.  They were married for 69 years before his death.  He worked for IBM for many years (after the chicken business), moved about every two years (Detroit, Pittsburgh, Wheeling, St. Louis, and finally Little Rock).  He finally stayed in Little Rock and lived there since 1963 and eventually retired from IBM in the 1980’s.  He liked to hunt, fish, and play golf, but his biggest passion was metal detecting.  He called it “booping” so he was affectionately called “Booper” by his friends and family.  He dug up thousands of coins, and a lot of trash!!!

He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in North Little Rock since 1963.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Oberste Clough; children: Susan Firtik (AR), Dr. Jeffrey Clough (WY), Denis Clough (MO), Gary and Farina Clough (AR), and Nicole and John George (MO); grandchildren:  Aleeza van Geemen, Joel van Geemen, Emma George, and Evan George.  He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Bruce Clough. He is also preceded in death by all of his brothers, Robert (Bob) Clough, Ronald (Ron) Clough), John (Jack) Clough, and Thomas (Tom) Clough.  His little dog Buddy was waiting for him.

Service with military honors will begin at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
