Charles Edward Goff, age 85, of Searcy, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 in his home after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born on September 23, 1935 in McRae, Arkansas to Romie and Nell Goff. Charles, a 1953 graduate of Beebe High School, worked over 50 fulfilling years in the transportation industry driving with different freight companies. He enjoyed being on the road traveling throughout Arkansas and at times across the country.
Charles accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior during his teenage years and enjoyed his time in the church. Most recently, Charles was a member of First Baptist Church Searcy where he had the pleasure of serving as a deacon. He lived a life full of service and loved spending time helping the community in all that he did whether on mission trips, teaching ESL classes, teaching vacation Bible school, working with the Special Needs ministry, and more. Additionally, Charles took great pride and joy in being a Master Gardner as well as serving with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) where he was able to love on so many people in his community.
Charles was a loving father, a caring husband, and a constant and loyal friend.
Charles was married to Robbie LaNell Free of Rose Bud, Arkansas on October 13, 1955 and enjoyed their 65 years together.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Haley. Charles is survived by his wife Robbie; and by his children, Dianna Lynn Goff of Cabot, Charles Michael Goff (Betty) of Carrollton, Texas and Jeffrey Lee Goff of Searcy; granddaughter, Margaret Elizabeth Goff, a student at Ouachita Baptist University; sister Lorene Poindexter of McRae and brother H. Leroy (Carol) Goff of Beebe.
Visitation is 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Searcy, with burial in Antioch Cemetery.
