Charles Dyson, Jr.

March 30, 1950 — September 6, 2021

Charles Dyson, Jr.

Charles Ray Dyson Jr., 71 of Jacksonville, Arkansas, left his wheelchair behind on this earth to walk on streets of gold September 6, 2021.  He was born on March 30, 1950, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Rev. Charles and Marcella (Beall) Dyson.

Charlie was a lover of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing more than you could imagine.  He grew up on a farm in Des Arc, Arkansas, where he learned how to raise animals and live off the land.  He spent a lot of his childhood in Ethel, Arkansas, harvesting his first deer there.  He loved that part of the state so much and, later in life, he acquired land of his own in nearby St. Charles, Arkansas, to hunt & fish, as well as entertain family, friends, and business associates.

He worked in the furniture industry most of his life, starting out at the age of 16 at the factory of Modern Furniture in North Little Rock, Arkansas.  After graduating from Sylvan Hills High School in 1968, he became a traveling manufacturer’s sales representative for Dyson Furniture.  That experience led him to represent Twin Oakes Furniture from the early 1970s until 1982, when he began representing both Massoud Furniture and Rock City Furniture.  Charlie was an excellent salesman and had won numerous awards throughout his career.  He was even featured in a national magazine as one of the top furniture salesmen in the country.

Charlie’s life drastically changed on October 23, 1987. While at his hunting place, a tree fell on him, paralyzing him from the chest down.  It left him bound to a wheelchair for the remainder of his life.  Despite his difficulties, he was determined not to allow his disability prevent him from loving life.  He continued to travel, but now with Linda as the driver and the sales rep.  He also continued hunting and fishing, raising animals, growing his own food, making homemade wine, as well as the very best homemade breakfast sausage, and sharing it all with family and friends.  He loved sharing food with people, and it didn’t matter whether it was a fish fry, quail dinner, smoked meat from his BBQ, or going out for a steak dinner. In recent years, he became very involved in politics.  He enjoyed fundraising, campaigning, and especially socializing at political events.

Growing up in an Apostolic preacher’s home, he was a believer in One God and the Acts 2:38 message of repentance, baptism in Jesus’ name, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost.  He had a passion for end-time prophecies, as well as helping small and new churches throughout the state of Arkansas.  It is a comfort to know he had made things right with his maker, and when the rapture takes place, he will be with the first to rise.

Charlie is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Linda (Rowland) Dyson, as well as two daughters: Charlyn (Mark) Givans of Mt. View, Arkansas, and Sandy (Rob) Carter of Barberton, Ohio; four grandchildren: Darren Waddles of Mt. View, Summer (Weston) Mize of Mt. View, Dyson Carter and Adelyne Carter, both of Barberton, Ohio; one great-grandchild: Greyson Mize; four siblings: Nan (Rodney) Pamer of Barberton, Ohio, Kenny (Camie) Dyson of Plymouth, Indiana, Marlene (Stan) Gleason of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Kim (Mary) Dyson of Cabot, Arkansas, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family, many friends, and his beloved “sweet pup,” Truffles.
